SN 02/23/2010
Everyone thinks that their mom cooks the best meals, and no one else cooks quite like her? To earn the title of being a great cook, you have to have talent. It is nice to see that your family and friends enjoy the tasty meals that you prepare for them. The experience that you have in planning menus and overseeing food preparations should be shared with others. How can you share your talent with more people? A cooking contest is a great way to display your gift.
There are monthly and quarterly competitions to enter each year. Be creative and come up with a couple of original ideas for a dish, and summit them as entries. Be sure to give all of your recipes a name and keep your dishes simple. You may be wondering, what type of businesses sponsor these contest. The companies that support cook-offs usually market food related products. Some of the products are poultry, canned foods, spices, breads, and many other foods items. Each company will have a theme or want you to use their ingredients as part of your recipe. A good example would be if you have to use potatoes as part of your dish. You may be asked to come up with a holiday theme or a twist to a popular recipe.
Before entering the contests, you will need to meet certain requirements. Most of the companies will have you fill out a short form online. The entry form requires some personal information and a few words about your recipe. Some companies require that you upload a picture and type information about your recipe. Always read the official rules, terms and agreements. After you have accepted the terms for the contest, your hard work will be judged by a group judges. Initially the judging is done by an independent agency, but the final judging is usually done by food experts.
Contests are always fun. This is an experience that you will always remember and there are prizes to be won. Some companies do offer prizes of up to one million dollars. A million dollar prize is usually awarded in annual payments and over several years. But that’s okay. There are other cash awards and additional prizes, such as trips and appliances. Considering all of the time that you put into your creative efforts, you are rewarded with a sense of pride and personal success.
